Ink in the Moomin stories

Ink, the lonely dog Ink is a small dog owned by Meesa, the maid of the Moomin family. He always hides his face with a mask and worries about being lonely, saying, "How can a dog like cats?"
Moominmamma searches for a cat to play with Ink, but has difficulty finding one. So she paints stripes on a white dog with paint and has him pretend to be a cat and play with her. The two get along well and play together. However, Misa, who thinks Ink is being tricked, reveals that her friend is not a cat with stripes, but a white dog.
Even after learning his friend's true identity, Ink's feelings don't change. The two get along well and remain best friends.
