■Akahadayaki is a type of pottery whose kilns are scattered in Nara City, Nara Prefecture and Yamatokoriyama City. Hidenaga, the younger brother of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the lord of Yamatokoriyama Castle, was a potter in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture. It is said to have started when people were invited to have tea utensils baked on Mt. Akahada.
It is characterized by its soft milky texture and Nara picture patterns, and is used to make a variety of items such as teacups, vases, pots, and plates.
