Inden is a traditional craft that has been handed down in Koshu (Yamanashi Prefecture) for over 400 years, in which patterns are applied to deerskin with lacquer.
The technique involves placing a hand-carved stencil on dyed deerskin and then printing lacquer onto it to make the pattern stand out, and the distinctive, plump feel of lacquer is what gives Inden its appeal.

The long-awaited collaboration products between Inden-ya, a company that has been carrying on traditions for over 400 years since the Edo period, and MOOMIN SHOP ONLINE are now back on sale!

■ Moomin 80th anniversary merchandise

The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the publication of the first Moomin novel.
The theme for the 80th anniversary is "The door is always open." Moomin House, which has no locks on its doors, welcomes any living creature. We want people to discover the importance of a place to return to and a place to belong in the story. This is a wish that has not changed since the story began 80 years ago.

■ Hattifattener Fair

Hattifattener is a mysterious creature that appears in the Moomin stories.
It is said that if you sow the seeds on the eve of the summer solstice, they will sprout out of the ground and their bodies will be charged with strong electricity.

Since the shape of the number 11 resembles a Hattifattener, the Hattifattener Fair is held around the 11th of every month, where a huge selection of Hattifattener goods is on display .
