Indenya collaboration new products are now available!
Inden is a traditional craft of deerskin with lacquer patterns that has been handed down for over 400 years in Koshu (Yamanashi Prefecture).
During the Edo period, Yushichi Uehara, the distant ancestor of inden-ya, devised a unique technique. Since then, Inden crafts have been produced using techniques that have been passed down orally only to the family head, Yushichi Uehara.
In 1987, Koshu Inden was certified as a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
In collaboration with Indenya, which not only inherits tradition but also continues to hone its skills and always pursues new Inden, we have created an official limited edition Inden depicting Moomin and Little My.
Moomin's Inden, which infuses traditional Japanese beauty with a Scandinavian feel.Thestylistic beauty of Inden was born from the nature that people have been familiar with since ancient times.
Inden is a technique in which a hand-carved pattern is placed on dyed deerskin and lacquer is imprinted on it to create a pattern, and the plump texture unique to lacquer is what makes Inden so appealing.
MOOMIN SHOP ONLINE's original Inden is based on Japanese style, but it was created with an original pattern that gives a sense of Scandinavia that is unique to Moomin. While giving a calm impression, the Moomin and Little My designs also create a cuteness that is just right.
Materials that symbolize Japanese beautyThe materials used for Japan Inden are lacquer and deerskin.
The origin of the word lacquer is ``moisturizing'' and ``beautiful'', and as time passes, the color becomes clearer and the luster becomes deeper.
In the West, it is called japan, and it is a material that symbolizes the beauty of Japan, and has been used in various crafts since ancient times.
Urushi's adhesive strength, surface strength, waterproofness, and unique luster were incorporated into the making of impressions by our distant ancestor Yushichi Uehara as a material that is both practical and decorative.
Lacquer and deerskin have become deeply familiar with Japanese life.Deerskin has been used in weapons, clothing, and bags since ancient times.
Its soft feel is said to be the closest to human skin, and it is light, strong, and easy to process and decorate, so people took advantage of its properties and used it in various crafts.
The more you use it, the more it feels in your hand, which is unique to natural materials. Being a wild deerskin, there are many scratches caused by misaligned horns, and these can be used as natural patterns.
Limited sale only at official storesLuxurious items depicting Moomin using the traditional Japanese lacquer craft "Inden" are available only at official stores.
