Enjoy the world of Moomin during your autumn reading time
In the "Lifestyle Suggestions" section, MOOMIN SHOP ONLINE staff will suggest lifestyles that incorporate recommended Moomin items.
As the heat gradually subsides and the number of comfortable days increases, it's becoming easier to make time for myself, perhaps because I have more energy to spare. I was thinking about what to do in my spare time, and I suddenly remembered the special editions of "The Comet in Moomin Valley" and "The Happy Moomins," which were released in August this year. I feel like the perfect time to read is when you're recovering from the fatigue of the summer.
The Japanese translation of the Moomin story was first published in 1964. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Japanese translation. Sixty years of Moomin being loved by many people. The special edition released in this commemorative year is a luxurious special edition. It is a compact paperback size hard cover, and includes five art cards with famous quotes on the back and one die-cut sticker. The glittering gold-foil embossed title makes the book feel even more special. I am so happy that a book I loved as a child is being published in such a special way.
If you want to read the whole novel, we recommend the new box set of all 9 volumes.
Rereading the Moomin stories I encountered as a child now that I'm older, perhaps because I've become more sensitive to tears or because I'm closer to my parents' generation, I was even more moved by the deep kindness of Moominmamma that I didn't notice when I was younger, and the Moomins, who never forget to have fun no matter what the situation. I've read the stories many times, and it's fun to discover new things and feel new emotions every time I read them.
I've become so engrossed in it again after a long time, so I'll keep the special editions, "The Comet in Moomin Valley" and "The Moomins Are Happy," which are paperback size and easy to carry around, in my everyday bag, and at home I'll go back and read the other volumes of the new edition little by little.
I love Moomin stories not only in novels, but also in the Moomin comics.
The Moomin comics, serialised in the London Evening News newspaper for seven years from 1954 by Tove Jansson and her brother Lars Jansson, are fun to read with their spicy and humorous plot, and have a different appeal to the novels.
The book cover is the perfect size for this volume, and next to Moomin and Moominmamma is a character from the Moomin comics. This cute character, shaped like a glass chimney that covers an oil lamp and with spring-like ears, is actually a "Martian child." In the comics, "Volume 7: The Lost Martian," a spaceship crashes into Moominmamma's vegetable garden, causing a big commotion in Moomin Valley.
It's surprising that a spaceship would fall into Moomin Valley, but if you're curious to know what happens, be sure to read the Moomin comics.
Of course the story is great, but I also love how the borders separating the panels of the comics are not just straight lines, but are decorated with designs of flowers and trees. It's also a lot of fun to look at as art.
Another hidden favorite point is that if you flip over the cover, which you probably wouldn't normally notice, you'll see that it has the same design as the cover of the foreign language version. After you've enjoyed the story, it's also a good idea to pay attention to the borders of the panels and the cover.
Having items that make reading more comfortable will make your reading time even more enjoyable, so I'd like to introduce some of my favorite items.
Book markers are a staple item for reading, and I love the design with the Moomins perched on them and peeking out. I use them to look back at my favorite words, and they're very convenient because they don't get in the way when I'm reading. They also make great little gifts for friends who love reading.
The bookends from the Swedish brand Pluto Produkter have a simple and functional design that is suited to the Nordic lifestyle, so they will fit into your room and you can use them for a long time.
Do you ever have trouble seeing the letters when reading? I was told that it's time to start wearing reading glasses at times like that. It seems that most people start thinking about it in their 40s, but some people start as early as their late 30s, so it's becoming something that doesn't just happen to other people. These reading glasses can be worn around the neck when not in use, and they reduce blue light by 20%, making them convenient for everyday use. The subtle Moomin design is cute and they don't look like reading glasses, which is a plus. I think these will be my first pair of reading glasses.
I always use a cushion because my body hurts when I stay in the same position, and the Little My cushion is perfect for holding on your stomach and is especially recommended for reading. It's nice that you can feel like you're reading with Little My. It's soft and squishy, so you can lean against it and relax.
Perhaps influenced by the teachings of the Moomin family that tea time is important at all times, I always make sure to have a drink ready to accompany me while I work, and now that the weather is getting warmer, it's the season when hot drinks are delicious.
The caffeine-free herbal tea "daytune.tea 7pcs set" offers six different blends to suit your working day. The "Cheer up" blend, marked by the cheerful Little My packaging, is not only soothing with its beautiful pink color, but also has a delicious fruity aroma and sweet and sour rosehip flavor.
This tea is inspired by the flower divination at the midsummer festival, which is a familiar tradition in Finland and the world of Moomin, so it tastes even better when you drink it while reading the novel "Moomin Valley Summer Festival." Even though it's not the midsummer solstice, you might meet your future husband in your dreams.
Finland is said to be one of the happiest countries in the world, and it is well known that many people there love reading.
In addition to purchasing books, the country is making efforts to utilize public libraries as part of education, and the country has many libraries and their utilization rate is said to be the highest in the world.
One reason why there are so many people who love reading is that they enjoy spending the long winters at home, or reading at their summer cottages where there is no electricity or running water, but it may be that it is because they are able to spend their time peacefully through reading that they are able to notice the small joys of life.
The Moomin stories written by Finnish author Tove Jansson are full of scenes depicting the Moomins finding and enjoying the happiness in everyday life, no matter what the situation.
Reading the Moomin stories may give you an opportunity to notice the small joys and happiness in your daily life. Whether you have never read the Moomin stories or are a fan who has read them many times, why not take this opportunity to enjoy the Moomin stories once again?
